Difference between LCD TV and Plasma TV

Many people understand that flat panel TVs are divided broadly into LCD and Plasma screens. However, it is perplexing to distinguish the two. There is a great Difference between LCD TV and Plasma TV. That is what makes the decision to purchase either of them to be tough. In fact the LCD and Plasma TVs may look exactly similar. They portray similar features just by a mere look. However, there is a major disparity between them. The difference is on the technological creation of each one of them.

The technological advances create the Difference between LCD TV and Plasma TV images display. For the LCD, they are made of liquid crystal cells. These cells are sandwiched between two major transparent layers. The image display is entirely dependent on the cells. It all depends on the available electric current. This is what either blocks or allows a passage of certain wavelengths of light through the crystals. As a result, an image is created on the screen.

This is quite different with the Plasma screens. They have a tiny cells collection. This is filled with either xenon or neon gas in plasma form. The image display has however to depend on the electric current. The electric current burns the gas creating different colors. It matches the colors equally well for a perfect display of the image. Clarity of the image is only assured with a thorough burning of the cells. This is what makes the Plasma Screen long lasting when compared to LCD screen.

Another Difference between LCD TV and Plasma TV is on the screen. Plasma television screens are known to be clearer. They also give better and quality pictures as compared to LCD screens. The reason behind this is all about the backlight technology. Plasma screens use the backlight which makes it to shine always. It does not matter the compactness in the arrangement of the cells. This results in image clarity and better contrast. However, LCD screens are trying to catch up and therefore new versions are being upgraded.

Plasma screen has an advantage over an LCD screen. This is also a Difference between LCD TV and Plasma TV. It is with respect to the viewing angle. For Plasma, it gives more clarity at all angles. The LCD screen is not good especially when viewed from sides. That is what makes you decide on what screen to go for. The screens also differ in their price. LCD screens are much more expensive than the Plasma type. Especially when it comes to considering the sizes, Plasma is the best. A screen larger than 50 inches costs much cheaper for Plasma than LCD screens.
